Twenty-three year old Gayle Suzette Garces Yu, a registered nurse and daughter of Calape Mayor Sulpicio Yu, bested other equally-beautiful and talented candidates in the Bohol Search of Miss Philippines Earth 2015, held last Sunday, March 29, at the Activity Center of Island City Mall.
Gayle automatically represents the province in the Miss Philippines Earth 2015, and will fly to Manila on Thursday, April 9, for the month-long series of challenges and pre-pageant activities, leading to the Grand Coronation Night on May 30, at SM MOA Arena which will be telecast live over ABS-CBN.
Aside from being Miss Javita Coffee and Miss Creamsilk Beautiful Hair, Gayle was also the People’s Choice Awardee, Best in Swimsuit and Best in Interview. Her ecotourism video that promoted the tourism potentials of her hometown Calape was also adjudged the best.
When interviewed, Gayle remarked…â€This is totally unexpected. I have been based in the US for the past two years where I worked as a nurse. I came home late last year just to take care personally of my mom who was battling the Big C. After my mom lost her battle with cancer, I was all set to go back to the US when I heard of the pageant. As a campus writer during my high school and college years, environmental issues had been one of my passions. I dedicate my triumph to my mom Grace who I’m sure is proud of my accomplishments. This is also for my dad, my sister and brothers, relatives and friends.”
First Runner-Up was the very charming Jenina Abrau of San Miguel who topped the Evening Gown competition with her flawless & elegant presentation; while the Second Runner-Up was the very polished and well-prepared Olive Zoilo of Tubigon. Miss Talent was Imaculada Cleofe Leopardas of Baclayon. The evening gowns were provided by Edwin Alba, Manuel Tumaque and Brendon Cenon.
