Rep. Erico Aristotle “Aris” Aumentado (Bohol, 2nd District) has categorically declared last Thursday his support for Presidential wannabe Jejomar “Jojo” Binay in the 2016 elections.

Aumentado’s declaration came during the 56th founding anniversary of Buenavista town last Thursday – witnessed by Vice President Binay’s representative and senatorial bet Vanessa “Alma Moreno” Lacsamana, local officials and the people of Buenavista, and visiting mayors and officials from nearby towns.

Aumentado’s support for Binay came as a surprise to some quarters as earlier reports indicated that the young solon was bent on supporting former DILG Sec. Mar Roxas since he belongs to the NPC which is in alliance with the ruling Liberal Party (LP).

Aumentado declared his unequivocal support after, of all presidentiables, the solon observed, only Binay and Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte personally visited Bohol’s 2nd District following the double whammy of the Oct. 15 earthquake followed closely by typhoon Yolanda on Nov. 8 in 2013.

Since then, he said, only Binay has constantly kept in touch with him and the mayors in his district to ask how he can be of help.

Unlike other officials who just tell their constituents what projects they have pipelined for their localities without actually understanding their priority needs, Aumentado said Binay would be “a listening President”.

His calls prove that he wants to get the pulse of the people and understands their needs.

The solon said Binay’s latest line has been: If I become President, what can I do to make the lives of your constituents more comfortable?

This is a presidentiable willing to support the solon’s needs, who talks to his people, not just candidates.

He said Binay is bottom-up budgeting (BUB) personified. He asks what the people need.
