After the approval of the port zone delineation in Tagbilaran City, the city government is mulling to implement a reclamation project in a bid to ease congestion in various roads in the province’s capital.

According to Tagbilaran Mayor John Geesnell Yap, a feasibility study on the proposed project which is among alternative measures to solve the city’s traffic woes is set to be conducted next year.

He said that the approval on the port zone delineation made by the Regional Development Council determined the administrative jurisdiction of both the Philippine Ports Authority and city government.

Initial plans indicated the construction of a wide road leading to the Tagbilaran City Airport which will cut across the reclamation area.

Once required documents for the project are secured, the implementation will immediately follow, Yap said.

However, he admitted that processes involved in securing said requirements would need much time while residents living in areas which will be affected by the project will still have to be consulted. (Allen Doydora)
