Amid the police’s intensified drive against illegal gambling, three men were arrested in separate operations in Tagbilaran City on Sunday for suspected involvement in “swertres†illegal numbers game.
Police identified the suspects as Leonedes Dapar, 29, Apolinar Canda, 44, and Julius Rama, 34, all residents of Barangay Cogon, Tagbilaran City.
Dapar was allegedly caught taking bets at 3:30 p.m. along Calceta St. of said village after residents in the area reported the suspect’s activities to the police.
Operatives reportedly seized gambling paraphernalia from Dapar during the operation.
At a nearby area in Tobacco St. in Barangay Cogon, police arrested Canda and Rama at 6:45 p.m.
Police allegedly caught the suspects in possession of cash bets worth P4,000 and gambling paraphernalia.
All three suspects are detained at the Tagbilaran City lock-up jail pending the filing of charges against them. (Allen Doydora)
