3 nabbed in Talibon for playing ‘hantak’

Municipal police stations in Bohol have diverted their focus to going after illegal gambling suspects amid the suspension of anti-illegal drug operations of the Philippine National Police (PNP).

In Talibon, three men were allegedly caught in the act of playing “hantak” on Thursday at past 1 p.m. in Barangay San Jose.

Police identified the suspects as Mario “Cocoy” Garcia, 50; Danilo “Bungot” Caballero, 57; and Dominador Avergonzado, 44, all residents of said town.

The operation against the suspects was set up after police received reports on their illegal activities which is are being conducted on a regular basis in the village.

Police confiscated coins which were allegedly used for the game and money believed to be cash bets from the suspects.

All three suspects will be charged for violating Section 1, paragraph A of Presidential Decree 1602 (Simplifying and Providing Stiffer Penalties for Violations of Philippine Gambling Laws). (Allen Doydora)
