A man who just turned 18 capped off his birthday in jail after allegedly stabbing his friend dead on Tuesday night.
Suspect John Pojas repeatedly stuck a kitchen knife into Ben Lester Ybanez, 21, over a petty argument during a drinking session in Barangay San Vicente, Dagohoy, said the town’s police.
According to SPO1 Roel Socorin, Ybanez, a resident of said village, sustained three stab wounds in his chest and one in the back.
The stabbing happened around 6 p.m. while Pojas, Ybanez and two other men were in a drinking session which led to a heated argument between the suspect and victim, said Socorin.
After the incident, Pojas reportedly fled the crime scene while Ybanez was rushed to a hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.
At past 10 p.m. on the same day, the suspect was located and arrested by police at his relative’s home also in Barangay San Vicente.
Socorin said that the suspect admitted to having committed the crime due to his drunkenness.
Charges are set to be filed against Pojas tomorrow. (Allen Doydora)
