The Bohol Provincial Board (PB) honored the three soldiers and policeman who were killed in the clash between Abu Sayyaf bandits and government security forces in Inabanga last week.
Provincial legislators led by Senior PB Member Venzencio Arcamo passed en masse a resolution officially commending the slain government troops during the board’s regular session on Friday morning.
The “fallen heroes†honored by the PB were 2nd Lt. Estelito Saldua Jr. Corporal Meljune Cajaban, Sgt. John Dexter Duero and PO2 Rey Anthony Nazareno a Special Weapons and Tactics operative.
According to the PB, the posthumous commendation was accorded to the four men for their bravery in maintaining peace and upholding the law in the province.
The PB members also expressed their condolences to the families of the fallen government troops during the session.
All three soldiers who were assigned to the Philippine Army’s 47th Infantry Battalion were taken to the battalion headquarters in Tubigon where a ceremony was held in their honor last week.
They were then transported to their respective hometowns in Batangas, Bacolod and Iloilo.
Meanwhile, Nazareno’s wake is held in his hometown of Calape, Bohol. (R. Tutas)
