There will now be a 24-hour water distribution service in several areas in the resort town of Panglao starting today, said the municipality’s mayor.

According to Mayor Leonila Montero, water distribution will be carried out by the Panglao Water Services, Inc. (PWSI), a subsidiary of Abejo Waters Corporation.

However, the firm’s services would only cover the villages of Doljo, Poblacion, Looc and Danao as of now, reaching residents and resorts situated in the areas.

Panglao has a total of 10 barangays and all of these will be served by the company before the end of the month.

“With an initial production capacity of 4,000 cubic meter per day, we can now initially serve 6,000 residents in four barangays,” said Rene M. Oliva Jr., vice president for public relations of Abejo Waters.

According to Oliva, PWSI has the capacity to distribute 8,000 cubic meters per day and can supply up to the highest floor of any resort at any given time.

Abejo Waters Corp. has initially invested P165 million in PWSI, he said.

The local government of Panglao and Abejo Waters has entered into a memorandum of agreement to develop, finance, design, engineer, operate, manage and maintain at their own cost the water distribution system in Panglao. (Rey Tutas)
