A man who allegedly terrorized passersby outside a mall in Tagbilaran City on Monday will be facing charges for possession of illegal drugs and direct assault.

The suspect identified as Egay ‘AJ Anton’ Ayawan, a Tagbilaran City resident, allegedly punched a policeman who tried to pacify him after receiving complaints on his behavior.

Ayawan is also a suspect in a series of robberies, police said.

The responding policeman identified only as PO1 Itim was stationed near a fast food restaurant at the BQ Mall along CPG Avenue when the incident happened at past 4 a.m.

Based on initial police investigation, Itim responded to witnesses’ complaints but this seemed to have only angered Ayawan who allegedly punched the policeman in the mouth.

This prompted another police officer to respond and help Itim subdue the suspect.

After the arrest was made, the policemen reportedly recovered two packets of shabu from the suspect’s possession.

Police said that Itim sustained a cut on his lip. (Weli Maestrado)
