One of the top 10 in the 2016 bar examinations is a Boholano who landed 8th place in the top 10 barristers.

The topnotcher is Atty. Jefferson Gomez, son of Peter and Chona Gomez whose roots are from Inabanga town.

He scored 87.70%

Meanwhile, 36 Boholano barristers passed the licensure exams given by the Supreme Court.

A total of 3,747 passed the bar exams, out 6,344 takers, or 59.06%, the highest in recent years.

Inabanga Mayor Roygie Jumamoy extended her felicitation to the Boholano bar topnotcher.

It maybe recalled that Bohol produced two no 1 bar topnotchers. They are former OIC Gov. Victor de la Serna who graduated from San Beda College and the late City Councilor Oscar Glovasa of Holy Name University.

Mayor Roygie Jumamoy of Inabanga town said in interview they (Inabangnons) acknowledged Gomez she and her family extend congratulations to Atty. Gomez for making it to top 10.

36 BOHOLANOS PASS BAR EXAMS

Thirty-five Boholano barristers were among the 3,747 who passed the 2016 licensure examination for lawyers given by the Supreme Court.

Of the 36, 16 are graduates of Holy Name University (HNU) under Dean Tomas Abapo Jr. .The new lawyers are Lynderle Bagotchay, Harold Bayarcal, Daisy Gie Cabatos, Edgar Calacar, Siegfred Caresosa, Lela Joanna Chiu, Jomel Noi dela Rosa, Adeline Glovasa, John Rey Laga, Mary Stephanie Lofranco, Nathaniel Pame, Randy Pingkian, Cheryl Ann Villares, Bryan Tan, Valerie Anne Torrefranca-Narona and Lawrence Louie Uy.

Two new lawyers were products of the University of Bohol under Dean Gregorio Austral, namely Meralu Pague and Leo Nicanor Mejorada.

Bohol Institute of Technology Int’l College under Dean Salvador Diputado produced four passers. They are Anthony Dei Dalida, Edmar Rodela, Seigfred Magallano and Cheryl Campaner Poquita.

The other Boholano lawyers who graduated from schools outside the province are Mc Aldous Castañares, Geraldee Frances Cloma, Marites Espejo, Nick Aranilla, Ericka Jean Garcia, Lord Ronald Vaño, Zyra Cuevas, Eric John Torrefiel, Ivar Axel Camargo Ericson, Ma. Richam Medina-Cabutihan, Glenn Rey Anino, Maxim Cadorna, Paulene Kaye Bucag, Ruby Rose Maligmat ug Noneluz Hamlig, Jessa Faith Lumantas, Riva Piezas, and Jiselle Rae Aumentado Villamor, granddaughter of the late former governor and congressman Erico Aumentado.

TOP 10 FROM PROV’L SCHOOLS

For the first time, all top 10 bar topnotchers are graduates from law schools in the provinces while none of them are products of the major schools in Manila like San Beda, University of the Phils., Ateneo, La Salle, University of Santo Tomas, Lycuem University and University of the East,

Four of the top 10 were graduates of the University of San Carlos (Cebu) and three from Silliman University (Dumaguete City).

1st: Karen Mae Calam, University of San Carlos (89.05 percent); 2nd: Alanna Gayle Ashley Khio, Silliman University (88.95 percent); 3rd (tied): Fiona Cristy Lao, University of San Carlos (88.80 percent); 3rd (tied): Athalia Liong, Andres Bonifacio College (88.80 percent); 4th: Allana Mae Babayen-On, University of San Agustin (88.75 percent); 5th: Justin Ryan Morilla, Ateneo de Davao University (88.40 percent); 6th: Mark Dave Camarao, Northwestern University (88.10 percent); 7th: Anne Margaret Momongan, University of San Carlos (87.80 percent); 8th: Jefferson Gomez, University of San Carlos (87.70 percent); 9th (tied): Nia Rachelle Gonzales, University of Batangas (87.50 percent); 9th (tied): Marie Chielo Ybio, Silliman University (87.50 percent); and 10th: Andrew Stephen Liu, Silliman University (87.45 percent)  (with reports from RVO)
