Man plunges to death at Tagbilaran pier

A carpenter was killed after he fell from a scaffolding at the Tagbilaran City seaport on Tuesday evening.

According to Emiliano Manal, the father of victim Roger Manal, 32, his son slept on top of the structure and fell head first at around 11 p.m.

The younger Manal was an employee of CCM Construction and a resident of Barangay Buenavista, Carmen.

The victim slept on the scaffolding after he worked on the construction of a gate at the pier, said Emiliano who is also employed by CCM.

Roger was rushed to the Governor Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital but was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.

Authorities said that Roger succumbed to severe head injury which resulted from the fall.

Emiliano told investigators that Roger’s death was a result of an accident. (W. Maestrado)
