Two male motorcyclists including one minor were killed in Alicia after their vehicles collided head-on along Barangay Progreso at 12 midnight on Tuesday.

Police identified one of the victims as Jaime Sumalinog, a 32-year-old resident of Barangay Pobloacion, Alicia.

The other fatality was a 17-year-old who lived in Villa Teresita, Ubay.

According to Alicia police chief Sr. Insp. William Alicaba, Sumalinog was travelling from Ubay while the minor was headed towards the opposite direction.

Both were speeding, said Alicaba.

Initial police investigation also indicated that Sumalinog’s motorcycle had no functioning headlight, noting that the other victim may have failed to see the approaching vehicle.

Sumalinog died on the spot while the 17-year-old was rushed to a hospital but later succumbed to injuries he sustained.

Alicaba said that Sumalinog is also believed to have been under the influence of alcohol during the accident.

Both victims were not wearing helmets and other protective gear, he added. (Allen Doydora)
