A Boholano ambulance driver was allegedly gunned down by a Maute Group bandit amid encounters between the terror group and government security forces in Marawi City, Lanao del Sur on Tuesday.

The victim, identified as Allan Descallar, a 40-year-old native of Brgy. Can-Laas, Antequera, was reportedly attempting to rescue a nurse colleague who was stranded due to the clashes.

Descallar’s death was confirmed by his family including his aunt, Luz Bosia.

Bosia said that Descallar worked as an ambulance driver for a clinic in Marawi City.

Based on information gathered by Bosia, an alleged band of Maute terrorists flagged down Descallar and shot him dead before taking his vehicle.

Prior to his killing, Descallar was told to remain indoors as the violent gun battles raged on in Marawi City but he reportedly insisted to pick up his stranded colleague.

According to Bosia who is based in Metro Manila, she received information on the circumstances of her nephew’s death through other relatives in Marawi City.

However, Bosia noted that they have not yet confirmed if Descallar’s body was already taken by authorities.

Meanwhile, Descallar’s mother has already left Bohol and is bound for Iligan where Descallar’s body is expected to be transported. (Allen Doydora)
