A strongly worded appeal was sent to Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Dir. Gen. Ronald dela Rosa, a former resident of Antequera town, to hasten the arrest of the suspects in the killing of Atty. Mia Mascariñas-Green.

The Antequera Sangguniang Bayan (SB) led by Vice Mayor Simon Leo Jadulco passed a resolution urging dela Rosa to issue marching orders for the arrest of Lloyd Gonzaga and Romarico Benegian who have been tagged as the alleged killers of Mascariñas-Green.

The appeal, cited in SB Resolution Number 2017-110, was made through a motion passed during the municipal legislative body’s regular session on May 15, 2017.

Mascariñas-Green who was a native of Antequera was killed at the corner of Zamora and JA Clarin Streets in Barangay Dao, Tagbilaran City on February 15, 2017.

Meanwhile, the Bohol Provincial Board has also publicly called on law enforcement agencies to speed up the arrest of the primary suspects in the lawyer’s murder.

Earlier, a warrant for the arrest of Gonzaga, Benegian and unidentified suspects was issued by Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 1.

The warrant was issued by Judge Lindecita Arcamo, presiding judge of RTC Branch 1, on May 22, 2017.

It may be recalled that three armed men flogged down her Innova Toyota as the triggermen blocked her route then entered her car and started shooting the lady lawyer, in front of her three children whom she picked up on their way home to Loon past 5 o’clock in the afternoon last Feb. 15 this year.

The murder generated a haul from the cross-section of the Boholano community who demanded justice for the murder of the young lady lawyer who was described to be passionate in her cry for justice.

The lawyers’ group here expressed surprise what is causing the delay in the arrest of the suspects.
