The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) in Tagbilaran City is tightly monitoring Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Councils (BADAC) in its bid to sustain the anti-drug drive in villages.

According to Tagbilaran City DILG Officer Mardonio Roxas, BADACs have been directed to conduct monthly meetings to assess the campaign’s progress and identify hurdles.

“We are strengthening our monitoring of the conduct of meetings of our Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Councils in villages as it has already been mandated,” said Roxas.

“These meetings are intended to tackle problems and developments in relation to illegal drugs,” he added.

The DILG has been tasked to monitor officials in their efforts to carry out President Rodrigo Duterte’s campaign against illegal drugs.

Roxas said that the department’s role in the drive is to primarily push the increase of the number of drug-free barangays.

So far, none of Tagbilaran City’s barangays have been declared drug-free over a year since Duterte assumed office and launched the war on illegal drugs. (AD)
