Rev. Fr. Andres “Andy” Ayco who passed away on Thursday last week after battling thyroid cancer will be laid to rest today.
According to Diocese of Tagbilaran chancellor Fr. Agerio Paña, Ayco will be buried in a cemetery for priests at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Seminary (IHMS) in Barangay Taloto, Tagbilaran City.
Prior to his interment, a requiem mass for Ayco will be held at the St. Joseph’s Cathedral and led by Bishop Abet Uy.
From the wake at his hometown of Sevilla, Ayco’s remains will also be brought to two churches he was previously assigned to, the St. Peter Parish in Loboc and Our Lady of Assumption Parish in Dauis.
Ayco was also parish priest of Sta. Monica Parish in Albur, Saint Isidore the Farmer Church in Brgy. San Isidro, Tagbilaran City and Mary Help of Christians Parish at Sandingan Island in Loon.
He was also appointed diocesan vocation director, chancellor and Social Action Center director of the Diocese of Tagbilaran.
Before he was ordained priest on April 29, 1987, Ayco attended the Asian Institute of Management and San Jose Seminary at the Ateneo de Manila University where he earned a degree in theology.
He graduated from high school at the IHMS seminary. (Rey Tutas)
