Police on Wednesday conducted a reenactment of the alleged execution and disposal of Mayor Gisela Boniel in waters off Lapu-Lapu City, said the Bien Unido police chief.
According to Insp. Librado Bigcas, police reenacted the series of events during the wee hours same as the time of the alleged abduction and killing of Boniel based on witnesses’ previous statements.
The reenactment was conducted by policemen of the Regional Special Operations Group and the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office led by its director, Sr. Supt. Romel Cabagnot.
Riolito Boniel who previously narrated to police the series of events during Gisela’s killing on July 7 and the night before also joined the authorities as their guide.
According to Cabagnot, the activity led the operatives to a slightly different “grid coordinate” but it was still in the same area.
“Medyo lahi gamay ang grid coordinate nga gitudlo pero mao gihapon nga area,” said Cabagnot in a text message to DYRD Balita.
The reenactment was carried out based on the reported time of the crime and the pumpboat’s speed in a bid to trace the disposal site of the mayor’s body.
Bohol Provincial Police Office personnel did not join the reenactment but were tasked to prepare the motorboats for the activity, said Bigcas.
Meanwhile, Cabagnot also said that divers will continue their search and retrieval operations for Boniel’s remains tomorrow.
“Wa mi ka dive ganina kusog kaayo balod ug ulan, we will do it tomorrow at 7 AM,” said Cabagnot. (Allen Doydora)
