The Bohol Electric Cooperative (BOHECO) II expressed optimism that it will get more power allocation after no electricity supply was earmarked for its consumers since Thursday last week.

Engr. Eugenio Tan of BOHECO II said some of their feeders were energized for the first time in over a week through the National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP) at 11 a.m. on Friday.

However, in its 3 p.m. report, the NGCP said that it has already transmitted 6 MW to Bohol.

The power drawn from Cebu and coursed through a bypass line was then entirely allotted to BOHECO II, said NGCP Visayas spokesperson Betty Martinez.

“For now,” said Martinez on directing power solely to BOHECO II. “We cannot extend power yet to Corella substation as doing so will result in voltage issues.”

Martinez noted that once more power supply becomes available, the NGCP will be able to push electricity forward to the Corella and Tagbilaran Substations.

“BOHECO was first supplied because it is nearest to NGCP’s substation in Ubay,” she added.

According to Tan, electricity was expected to be distributed to parts of Jagna, Guindulman, Ubay, Alicia Pres. Carlos P Garcia, Pilar and Duero within the day.

Meanwhile, Gov. Edgar Chatto on Friday met with NGCP officials to appeal for more power supply for Bohol, including BOHECO II.

Today’s allocation for the said electric cooperative was the first after the 6.5-magnitude tremor rocked Leyte and crippled Bohol’s power sources in the Eastern Visayas province.

Residents served by BOHECO II who owned generator sets solely depended on the device for power, said Jun Melencion, engineer of the said electric cooperative, in a previous interview.

Meanwhile, the Bohol Light Company, Inc. and BOHECO I have been drawing power from diesel-fired and hydropower plants in Bohol.

Towns serviced by BOHECO II include Valencia, Garcia-Hernandez, Jagna, Duero, Guindulman, Anda, Candijay, Mabini, Alicia, Ubay, Pres. Carlos P. Garcia Island, Pilar, Sierra-Bullones, San Miguel, Dagohoy, Danao, Bien-Unido, Trinidad, Talibon, Getafe and Buenavista. (Allen Doydora)
