Barangay councilor falls, yields P110-K ‘shabu’

Suspect Percival Artiaga looks on as authorities conduct an inventory of packets of shabu allegedly confiscated from him in a buy-bust operation in Talibon on Wednesday afternoon.

A barangay councilor who was allegedly caught in the act of selling illegal drugs was arrested in an anti-drug operation in Talibon on Thursday afternoon.

Authorities identified the suspect as Percival Artiaga, a councilor of Barangay Poblacion of the said town.

He was tagged as a high value target and a level one drug pusher by the police.

In a report, police indicated that Artiaga was caught in possession of 10 grams of shabu with an estimated street value of P110,000.

The drugs contained in three large and five small packets were seized from Artiaga following a buy-bust operation.

Artiaga allegedly sold shabu to a poseur-buyer prompting joint police operatives of the Provincial Intelligence Branch, Regional Special Operations Group and Talibon police station to arrest him.

The suspect was taken into police custody and detained pending the filing of charges against him. (Allen Doydora)
