10 contingents to join “Kuradang” street dance

Nine contingents from the towns and one from a public school will vie for top awards during the annual Sandugo street dancing which will highlight the traditional dance known as “kuradang,” a Boholano dance.

Carmen Gatal, chair of the street dancing committee said the only campus entry for this year is the Dr. Cecilio Putong National High School, this city. 

The nine other contingents are from the towns of Baclayon, Balilihan, Catigbian, San isidro, Pilar, San Miguel, Mabini (barangay Concepcion) and Loon (barangay Napo) and Tubigon. 

The participating contingents will start their “street dance” at Plaza Rizal by 2:30pm and will wind up their way to the Carlos P. Garcia Sports Complex where thousands of spectators will feel and catch the beat of “kuradang.” which has become famous again after it was first used as the official beat during last year’s Sandugo Street Dancing.

The grand prize winner will take home P250,000 cash while the second prize winner gets P200,000 and P150,000 for the third placer.

Five judges, the chair of who will come from the National Commission of Culture and Arts will pick the best contingents.

To add color to the street dancing day, the Street Party of Kiss 102.3FM will cap the day til dawn of Sunday at the City Square. 

Meanwhile, the Sandugo Fusion Nights bring the best in Bohol’s culinary now inside the CPG Sports Complex. The participating restos and resorts open at dinner time.

The Sandugo Fair (Product Showcase) of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) holds the distinction of a wide assortment of items at the Island City Mall.

DTI Regional Director Aster Caberte personally led government officials during the opening last Wednesday.

In entertainment, the Alicia Bamboo Ensemble performs tonight while the Dimiao Children Rondalla is booked on Friday. The award winning HNU Corale and the Diwanag Dance Company will perform on Sunday.
