A former jail guard of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) and another man were arrested in a drug buy bust operation in Tagbilaran City late Monday.
Police identified the suspects as former jail guard Berjelito Cempron and Eddie Razo, both listed in the Bohol Provincial Police Office’s (BPPO) drug watch list and residents of Barangay Cogon, Tagbilaran City.
Both suspects were immediately collared by operatives of the BPPO Provincial Public Safety Company after allegedly transacting with a police poseur-buyer at around 11:30 p.m.
In a report, police noted that they confiscated 12 sachets of shabu from Cempron and Razo.
The drugs reportedly weighed 2.8 grams and had an estimated street value of P35,000.
According to SPO1 Justeofino Hinlayagan, Cempron was dismissed from the service after testing positive for illegal drug use last year.
Cempron was reportedly assigned at the Tagbilaran City District Jail.
Both suspects are now detained while authorities are preparing to file drug charges against them.
On Thursday last week, a jail guard of the Bohol District Jail was allegedly caught in possession of shabu worth P200,000.
Suspect Ernesto Vistal, a casual government employee, reportedly tried to smuggle in the contraband to two jail cells of the detention facility. (Weli Maestrado)
