Woman, daughter fall prey to riding-in-tandem robbers in Tubigon

A 46-year-old woman and her daughter were robbed by motorcycle-riding men, one of whom was armed, in Barangay Pinayagan Norte in Tubigon at past 7 p.m. on Thursday.

PO3 Cromwel Enriquez of the Tubigon Police Station identified the victims as Ruth Calonio and Carline Calonia, 22, both residents of the said village.

Enriquez told dyRD Balita that the robbers held up the Calonios right after they alighted from a tricycle.

The suspects were likely following the victims prior to the robbery, he said.

Ruth and Carline were reportedly walking towards their house when both men on board their motorcycle suddenly stopped beside them and asked for directions.

The passenger then allegedly pulled out a pistol and pointed it at Carline as they declared a robbery.

According to Enriquez, the suspects were able to steal from the victims an expensive cellphone.

In their follow-up operation, the Tubigon police found and arrested the suspects who were identified as Chirstian Requerme, 22, and Jeffrey Colanggo, 18, both residents of Clarin town.

The suspects were arrested in Barangay Candahik, Clarin an hour after the alleged robbery.

Police recovered from the suspects a.38 caliber revolver, a packet of shabu and a the stolen cellphone.

The Calonios will be filing charges against both men, said Enriquez. (Allen Doydora)
