A barangay councilor tagged as a high-value target in the police’s anti-drug drive was arrested during a drug buy-bust operation on Wednesday night.
Operatives of the Philippine National Police and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency apprehended Jay Peter Namoc, 27, after he was allegedly caught red-handed selling shabu to an undercover agent.
Namoc sold shabu worth P500 to the poseur-buyer and was caught in possession of another packet containing suspected shabu leading to his immediate arrest by officers of the Cortes police and the 703rd Maritime Police, authorities said.
He has been identified as a barangay councilor of Barangay Loreto, Cortes.
According to police, Namoc was spotted selling shabu near the said village prompting authorities to set the operation in motion.
He is now detained at the Cortes Police Station pending the filing of drug charges against him. (wm)
