The police has identified two persons of interest in the killing of a man who was shot in broad daylight while carrying his grandchild along a busy street in Tagbilaran City.
According to Lt. Col. John Kareen Escober, chief of the Tagbilaran City Police Station, they are preparing to file charges against the suspected assailants.
“Naa na tay mga persons of interest na soon to be mahimo nanang suspects pinaagi sa mga affidavits ug mga testimonial evidence sa mga nakakita ug nakahibaw bahin adtong mga bahad. Hopefully maka-file ta og kaso within two to three weeks,” said Escober.
The police chief however did not disclose the names of the persons so as not to jeopardize the ongoing investigation.
Escober said the victim, Rodelito Tanio, 42, was allegedly receiving death threats months prior to the fatal shooting.
Investigators are eyeing personal grudge as possible motive behind the gun attack, noting that the perpetrators were the mastermind themselves.
“Sila g’yud to mismo pero di nato ma discount na basin dunay pay lain other individuals na involved sa planning or unsa paghuwam ba og motor or armas,” Escober added.
Tanio was shot in the head by one of the motorcycle-riding men who rode in tandem causing his instantaneous death.
Both assailants were wearing full-face helmets during the attack.
The child who the victim was carrying was unharmed.
“Naa ra kunoy gipangutana tong mga suspetsado, nitubag pa kuno tong biktima pero gipusil dayon. Ang bata nalabay pero wa ra maunsa,” Escober said. (A. Doydora)
