A man allegedly involved in illegal drugs was killed after he was shot multiple times by unidentified gunmen onboard a motorcycle in Barangay Dipatlong, Maribojoc at 11pm yesterday.

The victim, 34-year-old Jonas “Onat” Arocha, was reportedly sitting on his motorcycle near a waiting shed along the national road of said barangay when the shooting happened.

According to witnesses, another motorcycle carrying two unidentified men stopped beside Arocha and repeatedly shot him just minutes after the victim parked beside the shed.

After the shooting, the riding-in-tandem assailants quickly fled the crime scene and sped towards Tagbilaran City.

The unidentified gunmen who wore black jackets were onboard a red and white XR motorcycle with no plate number, witnesses said.

However, they were unable to see the shooters’ faces due to the area’s dimness and as the incident happened swiftly.

Arocha was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

Authorities were able to collect six spent shells fired from .45 caliber pistols, and a motorcycle and a cellphone which police believe to be the victim’s.

According to P01 Felix A. Quibol, the police is considering the victim’s alleged drug involvement as motive behind the shooting as Arocha was reportedly known to be involved in illegal activities.

Authorities are conducting further investigation to pinpoint the motive and the people behind the crime. (with reports from Allen Doydora)
