City Vice Mayor Toto Veloso was named the interim national president of the 1632-member Vice Mayors League of the Philippines (VMLP).
As he was selected to lead the group, Veloso said that he intends to promote Tagbilaran City while he holds the position.
According to Veloso, he advocated that major events of the VMLP will be held in the city so members of the group may spread news on the province’s capital and what it can offer to tourists and businessmen alike.
Hosting the activities of the large contingent would also help the local economy, he added.
The first gathering of the VMLP is already set to take place in Tagbilaran City in August this year as the interim national officers of the group will plan the activities for the entire year.
On July 15, 2016, the interim officials of the Bohol chapter of the league will also conduct its first assembly.
Veloso, who is on his last term as city vice mayor, intends to guide members of the league, particularly those from the province and newly elected ones in carrying out their duties, he said. (with reports from Allen Doydora)
