Another motorcyclist killed in road mishap

Another motorcycle driver was killed due to a road accident in Dauis at 8 p.m. on Sunday after a motorcyclist also figured in a fatal two-vehicle collision in nearby Tagbilaran City a day before.

The recent victim was identified as Michael Linggatong, a 33-year-old tourist van driver who lived in Barangay Gotoson, Loboc.

Based on a report of the Dauis police, Linggatong was driving from Panglao after returning a van he used for work.

Linggatong reportedly zoomed straight into an unfinished road at the Circumferential Road in Barangay Mariveles.

As the victim lost control of the motorcycle, his helmet came off while his head smashed into the ground causing his death.

According to police, Linggatong was rushed to a hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

Meanwhile, residents said that the victim possibly failed to read the signage indicating that the road ahead was under construction.

They said the sign was barely noticeable and readable.

On Saturday, a 21-year-old motorcyclist identified as Santos Namoc Jr. died on the spot after slamming straight into an incoming ambulance near the National Irrigation Administration office along JA Clarin Street, Tagbilaran City.

Based on initial police report, Namoc who sustained severe injuries to his head attempted to overtake another vehicle but was unable to return to his lane on time causing the collision. (A. Doydora)
