A 15-year-old boy, who was driving a motorcycle, was killed while his 17-year-old male passenger was critically injured following a head-on collision against a sedan which was driven by a 70-year-old man in Duero on Monday night.

The fatality, Jonathan Grande of Barangay Anibongan, Duero, was still rushed to a hospital but was declared dead on arrival while his passenger, Crisfe Mandihanon, was in critical condition.

The driver of the Chevrolet sedan, Pastor Feliselda, was uninjured but his blood pressure shot up following the collision.

According to Cpl. Mark Quiamco of the Duero Police Station, Feliselda was partly on the opposite lane as he tried to overtake a Southern Star bus along a national road in Barangay Madua Norte.

He was unable to return to his lane in time causing him to slam straight into the ill-fated motorcycle.

Mandihanon was still being treated at the Governor Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital in Tagbilaran City while Feliselda was placed under the custody of the Duero police.

It was not yet known whether or not Feliselda and the victims’ families will arrange an out-of-court settlement.

Police meanwhile continued their probe on the incident including the review of a footage retrieved from Feliselda’s dash cam. (A. Doydora)
