Two of Central Visayas’ most wanted personalities who have been implicated in the murder of former Bien Unido Mayor Gisela Boniel were arrested by joint police operatives in Lapu-Lapu City on Thursday morning.
Bohol Provincial Police Office director Colonel Jonathan Cabal who led the arresting team confirmed that Allan delos Reyes, Jr. and Lobo Boniel were collared by the BPPO including the Provincial Intelligence Branch in Lapu-Lapu City.
Lobo and Delos Reyes are tagged as the fourth and fifth most wanted persons in Region VII, respectively.
Both men were arrested for murder by virtue of an alias arrest warrant issued by the Regional Trial Court Branch 70 in Lapu-Lapu City.
According to Cabal, they located Delos Reyes and Lobo, who were initially believed to be in Bien Unido, after he received a text message on the whereabouts of both men in Lapu-Lapu City.
“Merong nagsabi na mga taga Bohol. Nagtext sa’kin. Palipat-lipat lang naman daw sila,” said Cabal.
In a report, police noted that they found an unlicensed .45 caliber pistol at the area of arrest in Barangay Basak, Lapu-Lapu City.
Cabal said that Lobo and delos Reyes both had a hand in the murder of Gisela on June 7, 2017.
“Yung Lobo kasama sa pagpplano lahat-lahat, kasama niya si Board Member [Niño Rey Boniel] tapos yung JR, yung isa, siya yung kasama ni Board Member doon sa boat noong pinatay si mayor,” he said.
Niño Rey has been accused of having masterminded the perceived killing of Gisela. He is detained on a parricide charge in Cebu.
More than two years after the alleged murder of Gisela, her remains which were believed to have been dumped in waters off Lapu-Lapu City have not been found.
