Boholanos will pause today to commemorate the 122nd birth anniversary of Bohol’s most illustrious son who became the 4th president of the Republic of the Philippines and the first president of the 1971  Constitutional Convention.

Pres. Carlos P. Garcia will be honored today, which is a special non-working holiday.

“Our Brother, Our Pride, Our Legacy,” is the theme of today’s celebration which will kick off with a wreath laying at the CPG monument at Plaza Rizal and a Holy Mass at the Bohol Cultural Center. 

A commemorative program with Sen. Joseph Victor “JV” Ejercito as guest of honor will highlight today’s observance of CPG Day.

Gov. Edgar Chatto will lead local officials in paying tribute to the most outstanding Boholano president who will forever be remembered for his “Filipino First Policy.”

A  Garcia Memorial Chess Cup will be held today in honor of the President  who is a known good chess player. A charcoal portrait contest will likewise be held today.

Meanwhile, “Kumbira ni Caloy” will be highlighted today at Cafe Caloy, a new coffee shoppe just beside the Garcia House (formerly Bohol Musuem).  A dessert buffet will start at 6:30pm tonite at cafe Caloy.
