Christ is risen! The Christian world rejoices today as the most joyous of all feasts, the resurrection of Christ, is celebrated. The resurrection confirms the unique process of salvation “so that they may have life and live it to the full.”

The jubilant pealing of church bells throughout Christendom during the Easter Vigil last night as the choir chanted “Gloria” heralded the resurrection of Christ more than 20 centuries ago. Religious rites in all churches were full of allusions to the resurrection of our Lord – His triumph over death and on the cross as He comes forth victoriously from the gloom of death.

The blessing of the Paschal candle and the water together with the renewal of baptism vows highlighted the well Easter Vigil in all parishes in this highly Catholic province.

Bishop Leonardo Medroso and Bishop Patrick Parcon of the Diocese of Tagbiaran and Diocese of Talibon , respectively, led in the Easter rites which climaxed with the traditional “Sugat” or “Hugos.”

From the lowly chapels in the hinterlands to the cathedrals in the metropolis, the ringing of the bells will announce the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Today, Easter Sunday, altars will glitter with golden ornamental and colorful flowers as priests and ministers sing the joyful alleluias to honor the risen Christ.

The province witnessed again a flowing crowd of the faithful troop to the various churches to attend Holy Masses, processions, prayer vigil and family reunion.  Today, by tradition, Boholanos go to the beaches to celebrate Easter Sunday with the risen Christ.

During the Holy Week, parishioners had their break for a longer weekend vacation .

The 7 last words of Christ echoed last Good Friday as delivered by the chosen members of the church.
