(MANILA) –  The Bohol Chronicle romped away with 3 of the 6  Visayas  winner category awards of the Annual PPI (Philippine Press Institute of the Philippines) Civic Community Awards . The National Champions will be announced during the 2014 annual PPI Awards Convention on May 14-16 to be held at the Diamond Hotel along Roxas Blvd, Manila, according to PPI Chairman Jesus Dureza and Executive Director Ariel Cervantes.

The Chronicle  is winner for the Visayas in the “Best in Business and Economics Reporting” to battle with Luzon and Mindanao champions  Baguio Midland Courier and Business Week Mindanao respectively  , “Best in Environmental Reporting” versus  Pahayagang Balikas ,winner for Luzon and the Business Weekly Mindanao and “Best in Culture, Arts and History Reporting” against Luzon winner The Ilocos Time and the Business Weekly Mindanao.

The  Chronicle , under Editor in Chief Bingo Dejaresco III and Associate Editor Peter Dejaresco had won two national PPI awards in the last two years: 2012 ” Best Editorial Page” and 2013 “Best in Disaster Reporting” Special Awards.

In the first event in 2012 president Benigno Aquino graced the occasion and former president Fidel Ramos handed the award for 2013.

The Negros Chronicle edited by the Dejaresco’s brother Ely Dejaresco based in Dumaguete City is finalist this year for the Visayas in “Best Edited” and ” Best Editorial Page”.
