The ruling Liberal Party vice-presidential bet, Camarines Sur Third District Rep. Maria Leonor Robredo, will grace today’s commemoration of 119th birth anniversary of President Carlos P. Garcia, Bohol’s most illustrious son.

Today’s CPG Day celebration will again highlight the significant contributions of the only Boholano who made it to Malacañang to the country and the province.

Garcia had been known for his “Filipino First” policy.

Robredo is expected to arrive Bohol at around 7:20 a.m. and will have breakfast with Gov. Edgar Chatto, Vice-Gov. Concepcion Lim and other provincial officials at the Governor’s Mansion this morning.

She is also scheduled for an interview with DYRD-Inyong Alagad at from 8:30 a.m. to 8:55 a.m.

Robredo will then meet with farmers, fisherfolk and cooperative leaders at around 9 a.m. at the Governor’s Mansion before proceeding to the CPG Day commemorative program at the Bohol Cultural Center.

The administration party’s vice-presidential bet will have lunch with LP provincial and city slate at the Bohol Tropics, to be followed by a consultative meeting with LP partymates in the province, Friends of Mar, members of the civil society organizations and non-government organizations.

She is scheduled to fly back to Manila at 2:35 p.m.

The day-long commemoration of CPG’s 199th birthday with the theme—“CPG@119: ‘Living Inspiration of the Boholanos’ Quest for Pride, Humanity and Cultural Identity’

There will be ceremonies at the Pres. Carlos P. Garcia Park at the New Capitol Site to start at 7:30 a.m. with the usual flag-raising ceremony that will be followed by 21-Gun Salute and wreath-laying.

A Eucharistic celebration will follow at the Bohol Cultural Center prior to the commemorative program.

At 1 p.m., Boholanos will remember CPG’s contribution to the arts and fondness on chess through a gathering of artists at the Pres. CPG Heritage House at corner Hontanosas and F. Rocha Sts. dubbed as Tapok-Tapok sa Balay ni Caloy featuring Debuho Boholano, Chess Games; Sayaw ug Awit, Balak, Painit.

During the commemorative program, Vice-Gov. Lim and Tagbilaran City Mayor John Geesnell Yap II will give the welcome messages, to be followed by a tribute to the late Pres. Garcia through Balak and Kuradang.

First District Rep. Rene Relampagos will also give a message, while Provincial Board Member Tomas Cesar Lopez—being the chair of the Committee on Education—will lead the recognition of Pres. CPG scholars for school year 2014-2015.

Lawyer Fernando Campos, secretary-general of the CPG Foundation, Inc., will give a message on behalf of the Garcia family.

Robredo will join Chatto, Lim, Provincial Board Member Romulo Cepedoza and DILG Provincial Director Loisella Lucino in awarding recognition to The Outstanding Barangay Officials Of The Year (TOBOY) for 2015.

Robredo will also join provincial officials and Campos in the conferment of Pres. Carlos P. Garcia Awards.

This year’s awardees are Jessel Mark Magsayo for sports, Enriqueta Butalid for music, and Emilia Roslinda for social development.

Philippine Ports Authority (PPA)-Tagbilaran Manager Annie Lee Manese and Police Provincial Director Dennis Agustin will lead the awarding of special citations.

Chatto will then give his commemorative message before Robredo gives her keynote message.
