All police personnel sealed their service firearms on Monday to make sure none among them will be involved inindiscriminate firing using their service firearms during the New Year revelry.

The gun-sealing activity was done at Camp Dagohoy Tagbilaran City where the cops from all the police stations in the municipalities and the city gathered yesterday upon the directive from the Philippine National Police national office implemented nationwide.
The PNP makes sure no personnel will fire a gun “without valid reasonâ€.
PNP personnel are only allowed to fire their service firearms “during a legitimate police operation and when the lives of the policemen are in dangerâ€.
Police personnel violating the order will be penalized.
Agustin also ordered all police stations in the province to beef up police visibility in their respective areas of responsibility to prevent cases of stray bullets involving both police personnel and private persons using private firearms.
Police visibility is also augmented in areas where people would converge during the Christmas season.
Cops will regularly patrol areas in areas around the churches, especially at the start of the dawn masses that started this morning.
In January this year, at least “four policemen, an Army soldier and four security guards [nationwide] were among the 12 persons arrested for firing their guns despite warnings against indiscriminate firing in greeting the New Yearâ€, according to reports.
