CITY MAYOR John Geesnell “BABA” Yap with Tagbilaran City’s First Lady and Mutya Chair, Jane Censoria Cajes-Yap with the Kagandahang Flores Team led by Jonas Borces and the 15 lovely candidates of Mutyasa Tagbilaran 2016.

“I hope that your experience in this pageant will develop your character and confidence. We will do our best to equip you with the necessary skills which would enable you to be at your best during the pageant.” Thus Mutya sa Tagbilaran (MST) Chair Jane Censoria Cajes-Yap advised the aspiring Mutya candidates during the MST’s mock pageant held at Bohol Tropics Resort.

The mock pageant – a sort of culmination exercises for the candidates after their rigid exercises in communication, stage ethics and catwalk – had them show off what they have learned during their 2-day coaching.

No less than Kagandahang Flores Jonas Borces and Gloria Araneta handled the groundwork sessions of the girls. At the onset, the girls were prepped up for their production numbers.

This year’s MST will dwell on the concept of “Beauty through the Age, empowered women in contemporary times.”

The gold ensemble for the repertoire will be crafted by famous fashion designer Roy Erwin Tizon, while the Vanguardians Dance Troupe will gyrate to the tune of Beyonce’s “End of Time”.

During the swimsuit competition, the 15 lovely candidates will don one-piece Charina Sarte creations. Each candidate will be provided too with customized shoes by Mark Shandar.

Another twist in this year’s pageant would be the former Miss Tagbilaran and Mutya sa Tagbilaran beauty title holders sharing the spotlight in an elegant parade of beauties.

The veteran beauty titlists will wear Bohol fashion designers’ creations, which is the City Government’s way of supporting the talent, creativity and craftsmanship of our local designers.

The candidates are currently doing some sponsor visits and intensive trainings in preparation for the Grand Coronation Night on April 24 at the Bohol Wisdom School.

This year’s candidates are Leslie May N. Ranario of Tiptip, Mykee Alanis P. Tuyor of Poblacion 2, Michelle T. Juguan of Dampas, Christine Jay T. Ancog of Dao, Maygan Joyce A. Besa of Bool, Ma. Monica D. Gomez of Mansasa, Natalie Belle O. McGaw of Cogon, Melody Sanchez of Poblacion 3, Perlie L. Jeverola of Booy, Queenebeth I. Barcelona of Manga, Mary Rene l. Lagrada of San Isidro, Lady Grace M. Manolong of Cabawan, Jasmine S. Jaeckel of Taloto, Jonalyn S. Melleza of Poblacion 1 and Erika Sofia N. Karcher of Ubujan.

Mutya Chair Jane Yap hopes that this journey will provide life-long lessons for the girls, eventually providing them, better and bigger opportunities in the future.
