NARCO ROUTE. Narcotics traders bring in drugs to Bohol unnoticed as there are no police authorities at small docking areas in some towns including Inabanga, Clarin, Getafe and Talibon.

There is a continuing supply of drugs to the province on board pumpboats passing through the various coastal towns facing Cebu where the bulk of drugs supply remains unabated despite claims of a massive crackdown on drug personalities.

A highly placed source told the Chronicle yesterday that authorities need to beef up their checkpoints in several docking areas in the towns of Inabanga, Clarin, Getafe as well as Talibon.

The informant said that hundreds of pumpboats cross the Bohol-Cebu seas everyday to transport goods, including fish to Cebu buyers. In their return trips to the province, they will be bringing in drugs unnoticed as there are no police authorities at these small docking areas.

The same informant said that with the presence of a battalion of Phil. Army troopers, they should be tapped to do the inspection and checkpoints right at the various docking areas since the number of police would never be enough.

These docking areas of pumpboats coming from Cebu are now being used as the easy entry points of drugs.

Drug supply, according to a former drug user, has dwindled by about 40% since “Operation Tokhang” started its crackdown on drugs. 

He likewise said that a sachet of shabu has doubled its price from P150 to P300 for a very few quantity while the regular volume in a sachet would cost P600 to P1,000 per pack.
