Sec. Francisco Duque

The Department of Health (DOH) Secretary Francisco T. Duque III will be in Bohol on Tuesday to keynote the 16th Barangay Nutrition Scholar (BNS) Summit which will be held at the Bohol Cultural Center, Tagbilaran City.

Sec. Duque will arrive at the Tagbilaran City Airport at 10 o’clock in the morning and will immediately proceed to the venue.

He will be introduced by DOH 7 Regional Director Jaime S. Bernadas.

Governor Edgar M. Chatto; Tagbilaran City Mayor John Geesnell L. Yap; Mayor Allen Ray Z. Piezas, League of Municipalities of the Philippines, Bohol Chapter President; and Parolita A. Mission, nutrition program coordinator will deliver their messages; while acting Vice-Governor Venzencio B. Arcamo will give the welcome message.

The DOH Sec. will join Gov. Chatto along with Provincial Health Officer II Reymoses A. Cabagnot, Provincial Nutrition Action Officer Larry M. Pamugas and BNS Federated President Irenea B. Ordinario to distribute the awards to the long serving BNS.

In the afternoon at 1-3 p.m. there will be a lecture wherein Nasudi G. Saluta, Nutrition Officer- NNC7 will talk about the “Implementing Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition (PPAN); Ma. Loisella E. Lucino, Bohol Provincial Director- Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) will speak about “Barangay Nutrition Planning;” Dr. Cesar Tomas M. Lopez will delve on the “Center for Drug Education and Counseling” and Julieta G. Tutor, Nutrition-Dietician IV-DOH 7.

Sec. Duque is expected to answer some questions from the local media regarding the controversial issue of Dengvaxia that rocked DOH.

Dr. Pamugas will formally close the 16th BNS Summit program. (Atoy Cosap)
