Six neophytes win Sangguniang Panlalawigan seats

Damalerio, Lagunay, Garcia, Boniel, Auxtero and Bonita

A total of six newcomers have been elected as members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan during the May 13 polls.

They are elected Board Members Aldz Damalerio, Lucille Lagunay, Frans Garcia, Mimi Boniel, Toting Auxtero, and Doctor Bonita.

The six newly elected lawmakers will be joining all of the four reelected board members.

The reelected lawmakers are Ricky Masamayor, Victor Balite, Elpidio Jala and Jade Bautista.

Of the 10-man body, excluding ex-officio members, seven are with the provincial administrationDamalerio, Masamayor, Garcia, Auxtero, Bautista, Jala and Bonita.

Based on the final election results from the Commission on Elections transparency server, Damalerio, Garcia and Balite garnered the most number of votes in the first, second and third districts, respectively.

Here’s how each of the three districts voted:

FIRST DISTRICT (12 candidates)

Damalerio – 75,785

Masamayor – 71,530

SECOND DISTRICT (8 candidates)

Garcia – 93,666

Boniel – 75,217

Auxtero – 73,467

THIRD DISTRICT (12 candidates)

Balite – 108,397

Bautista – 96,741

Jala – 65,269

Bonita – 57,394

Other incumbent SP members have either completed their third and final terms or sought higher office.

Abelion Damalerio and Venzencio Arcamo, who lost in his Panglao mayoral bid, are on their last terms while Agapito Avenido and Alexie Tutor, who are on their first terms as board members, ran for seats in Congress.

Avenido lost in his bid for the second district congressional seat while Tutor won as third district congresswoman.

Meanwhile, Board Member Tomas Abapo, Jr., who is on his second term, lost in his vice-gubernatorial bid.
