Boholanos, even two days after that victorious day for the Filipinos, remain stunned on the historic event of producing the third Filipina beauty as Miss Universe in the person of Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach.

The beauty queen who is now the reigning Miss Universe is regarded by the Boholanos as the” fresh yet enduring face of empowerment”  not just among Filipinas but women of all nations.

During a random gathering of comments and views aired at the top-rated “Inyong Alagad” of dyRD, Gov. Edgar Chatto took part by saying that “Pia” is now part of the country’s precious “jewel” to depict the real Filipina beauty and wit.

Ms. Wurtzbach visited the province last summer as guest. She was escorted by Manila media group who wanted to capture Bohol’s scenic spots with the beauty queen as the highlight.

The governor in his remarks said the her winning is a “memorable Christmas gift to the nation and its people.”

She deserves to become the icon of pride, honor and feat  as only two other Filipinas had ever achieved for the country 42 long years before her.

Alone by her scintillating self-description that charmed the world and defined her victory, Wurtzbach has not just re-created the Filipina but given womankind a fresh universal symbol of what she calls “confidently beautiful with a heart,” the governor said.

Chatto said the third Philippine bet ever to be crowned Miss Universe after Gloria Diaz and Margie Moran over four decades ago has “instantly promoted to a glowing degree the image of her country and countrymen.”

Last summer, Wurtzbach, then fresh from winning the Binibining Pilipinas-Universe 2015 title, gave Bohol tourism a lustrous poster when she did pictorials at some known spots here for a Philippine Daily Inquirer Lifestyle edition.

A stunning take showing Wultzbach backdropped by a wondrous Chocolate Hill suggests that Bohol has nature’s perfect match to who would later be crowned the prettiest woman on earth.

In another shoot, her bewitching figure on the Maribojoc coastal uplift gives the geological wonder created by the great Bohol earthquake in 2013 a captivating sense and not sight of fear.

Chatto said young Boholanas surely look up to Wurtzbach as an empowered and empowering Filipina  considering her pedestal glory after losing her previous Binibining Pilipinas bids not once but twice, plus her personal pains.

“Our Miss Universe’s story of struggle to realize her dream through perseverance, determination, discipline and sacrifice is far greater, and it inspires many in whatever career they may take,” the governor said. (with a report from Ven Arigo)
