City Hall agent falls in buy-bust

A supposed force multiplier in peace and order had his turn to be arrested when caught red handed during a recent buy-bust operation.

Elements of the City Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group (CAIDSOTG) identified the arrested person as Robert Niza, a 53-year-old employee of the city government, assigned as member of the ALERT team tasked to complement the police force.

Niza is married and a resident of Cataingan-Purok 7 in Barangay Mansasa, Tagbilaran City.

The CAIDSOTG conducted the buy-bust at around 9:45 pm on December 28 at Mansasa-Dampas Road, this city in coordination with the PDEA.

The CAIDSOTG, led by the city chief of police, PSupt. George Vale, comprised of SPO4 Yolando Bagotchay Jr., PO3 Clyd Lagumbay, PO2 Ignacio Inojales, PO2 Richie Lovete, PO2 Gary Labial, PO1 Bart Paredes, PO1 Ray Neil Bibat, PO1 Maris Aldrin Gabuya, PO1 John Butch Epile, PO1 Manuel Manataf Jr., and PO1 Genelyn Pude.

The items confiscated from Niza included four small sachets of shabu, the 500-peso bill used as marked money, three medium-size sachets of shabu, one more small sachet of shabu, cash amounting to P1,350 in different denominations, cellphone, and his ID as ALERT team member.

The operation and the inventory were witnessed by Socrates Israel for the NPS, Barangay Kagawad Samuel Ochoa, and DYRD’s Weli Maestrado.

The arrested person was temporarily detained at the lock-up jail of the city police station after the buy-bust.

Complaints for violations of Sections 5 and 11 of Article II of Republic Act 9165 was later filed against him before the City Prosecutor’s Office.
