Song entries for Bohol songfest accepted

The Provincial Government of Bohol, in cooperation with the Bohol Sandugo Foundation, Inc., is now cooking specific kinds of entertainment for the upcoming Sandugo Festival in July.

One of these is the Bohol Sandugo Song Festival, which is now on its second year.

Songfest Chair Eddie Orig said that Songfest organizers are now accepting entries and the deadline of submission will be at 12:00 o’clock noon of May 31, 2016.

“This is open to all professional and amateur Boholano songwriters and entry songs must be unpublished original compositions,” Orig said during a meeting between the Provincial Government and the Foundation.

He also said that lyrics must be in Boholano or Binisaya and each entry must not exceed four minutes, including intro and extro music.

There will be three categories; namely, the Ballad or Love Song category, Novelty, and Fast Beat.

Fifteen finalists would then be chosen to perform for the Finals Night on July 21, with five entries per category.

The three grand winners will receive P50,000.00 each; while the remaining nine non-winning finalists will have consolation prizes of P10,000.00 each.

Best Interpreter for the Songfest Finals Night will receive P5,000.00.

    Hi, I am Nizel, an amateur composer, wannabe-audio-engineer and a novice arranger from Tagbilaran.

    I would like to inquire some information regarding Sandugo SOng Festival 2016, as follows:

    Is there any specific genre that the festival requires from the song entries for it to be admitted, or would there be genres that are discouraged, for instance: Pop, Alternative, Rock, or modern beat? Does this contest focuses on visayan-novelty or classic-visayan type of music?

    I don’t see any information regarding my concern on the instant post, dated March 20, 2016; thus, I am hoping for an enlightenment regarding the matter since I am so much interested to join your competition. I have only made a bit mixture of pop and alternative type, I wonder if that genre would be admitted among with its other requirements.

    Further, since it is also not mentioned in the instant post, I would assume that there is no specific theme or message in the lyrics of the entry song that should or should not be followed. Yet, I am still open for comment and enlightenment.

    The sooner the response, the greater time I would gain in re-arranging my composition.
