Some 110 priests under the Diocese of Tagbilaran will be reporting to their new assignments starting tomorrow.

Bishop Leonardo Medroso who on record has retired as bishop is the new parish priest of the St. Joseph Cathedral while awaiting his replacement as head of the Diocese. Under Vatican rule, Medroso has to remain in his post while awaiting for his replacement. Until yesterday, there was no mention as to who will succeed Medroso as bishop of the Diocese of Tagbilaran.

Msgr. Jeffrey Malanog, remains as vicar general but ended his term as St. Joseph Cathedral’s parish priest, and now to assume as assistant resident of the Barangay Sang Birhen Parish in Cogon, the biggest district in the city.

Bishop Medroso told The Chronicle that the reshuffling is also part of the much needed preparation for the celebration of the Diamond Jubilee of the Diocese of Tagbilaran in November next year. The yearlong preparation will commence in November this year.

He likewise stressed that the continuing implementation of the Basic Ecclesiastical Commission (BEC) will embark on a more crucial level which is on social responsibility embarking on livelihood programs and the on-going housing projects and the planned construction of a drug rehabilitation center.
