The mayoralty bets of Panglao and Dauis will be featured during the Candidates’ Forum at the Panglao Cultural Center on Friday, starting at 1:30 in the afternoon.

Panglao re-electionist Mayor Nila Montero and mayoralty bet, former Panglao Mayor Doloreich Dumaluan will be in the forum together with Dauis re-electionist Mayor Miriam Sumaylo and mayoralty bet, Victorio Migrino.

Both incumbent lady mayors of the two tourism municipalities are expected to answer questions on issues that need action from the local government units while the two mayoralty bets are expected to articulate their own solution to the issues and concerns of the town.

Environmental issue is expected to top the agenda of the forum considering the volatile situation of any tourist destination like Panglao and Dauis.

Both Montero and Sumaylo will be running for their second terms as mayor under the administration Liberal Party (LP).

In Panglao, the return of former Mayor Dumaluan is expected to bring a close fight considering that he was a former supporter of Mayor Montero, in fact, one of those who made Montero as town mayor.  Dr. Dumaluan who is the provincial chairman of the PDP-Laban will be in tandem with another former mayor, Dodong Alcala. The Dumaluan-Alcala slate is expected to mount a strong opposition against the incumbent tandem of Montero and Vice Mayor Pedro Fuertes

In Dauis, Sumaylo will be running in tandem with her incumbent Vice Mayor Lulu Bongalos while Migrino’s running mate is Jobert Bomediano under PDP-Laban.

The Candidates’ Forum is organized by the Panglao Chamber of Commerce and Industry, headed by Belevue Resort Manager Romel Gonzales as president. He will deliver the statement of purpose while Bohol Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Al Uy will deliver the welcome remarks.  Chamber trustee Dominic Butalid will act as moderator.
