The hard questions didn’t stop coming for newly crowned Miss Intercontinental Karen Gallman even after pageant night.

In an interview with ANC Headstart’s Karen Davila, the Boholana beauty queen was asked questions on more pressing topics including her thoughts on lowering the age of criminal liability to 12 years old.

“I think that’s still too young. I think 12-years-old is still quite young. I don’t think they know necessarily what they’re doing fully,” said Gallman who spent some of her formative years in Ubay, Bohol.

The issue became a hot topic after the House of Representatives recently passed on final reading a measure proposing 12 years old as the age of criminal liability.

“I think the parents should step in and they should be disciplined,” she added. “Parents should be liable, parents should discipline the children.”

Gallman also expressed favor for divorce in the Philippines, saying that husbands and wives should have the option of ending abusive marriages.

“People change over the course of years… [If] there’s also the abuse in the relationship, I think the woman or the man should be able to leave that person and not suffer,” she said.

Davila also asked Gallman what her thoughts were on medical marijuana. The House of Representatives also recently passed a medical marijuana bill.

“I think there are a few benefits to marijuana if it’s used health-wise. But then for me, I think it’s such a bad habit if you’re just smoking it for the sake of smoking it,” Gallman said.

Gallman clinched the Miss Intercontinental crown at the posh Okada Manila in Parañaque City last Saturday, becoming the first Filipina to win the title.
