Police in Bohol have started to coordinate with authorities in Davao after receiving a report indicating that the suspects in the killing of Atty. Mia Mascariñas-Green have fled the province.

According to Tagbilaran City police chief Supt. Nicomedes Olaivar, they have alerted police in Davao City and other localities on the possible presence of Lloyd Lancer Gonzaga in their respective areas.

Gonzaga, the alleged mastermind in the killing of Green, is reportedly a native of Davao whose father has a residence in the area while one of the suspected shooters, Romarico Benigian, is from Compostella Valley.

Olaivar said that policemen in the province have cleared suspected hideouts of Gonzaga and his men in Bohol.

However, the police chief noted that they are not completely dismissing the possibility that the suspects have not left Bohol as police in the province sustain their manhunt against the two suspects.

On Friday, Police Regional Office 7 director Chief Supt. Noli Taliño ordered the manhunt against Gonzaga and Benigian.

Meanwhile, a report on the case has been submitted to Philippine National Police (PNP) Director General Ronald Dela Rosa, said Olaivar who also urged the public to relay to authorities significant information on the suspects.

At past midnight on Friday, various PNP units raided the Embrace Hotel where the alleged shooters were believed to have been holed up.

However, the operatives were too late in implementing the search warrant as the suspects were allegedly able to escape.

Green’s murder is believed to have been an offshoot of ongoing high-profile civil and administrative disputes over a property involving the 38-room hotel sitting on a 1,858 square-meter prime lot located at Ester A. Lim Drive, Purok 6, Barangay Tawala, Panglao. (Allen Doydora)
