1 dead, 2 minors hurt in road mishap involving town PNP chief

Two of the victims, aged 10 and 12, were taken to the Governor Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital in Tagbilaran City for treatment after the motorcycle they were on collided head on against a sedan in Barangay Mandawa,, Bien Unido at 4 p.m. on Sunday.

A 23-year-old man driving a motorcycle was killed while his passengers, aged 10 and 12, were injured following a vehicular collision against a car driven by the police chief of Bien Unido on Sunday.

Tirso Lorican, a resident of Barangay Santo Tomas in Trinidad, died on the spot after the motorcycle he was driving collided head on against a sedan driven by police Insp. Librado Bigcas in Bien Unido.

Based on initial police investigation, the accident happened at around 4 p.m. along a road in Barangay Mandawa in said town.

Lorican reportedly switched to the opposite lane as he attempted to overtake another motorcycle when he accidentally slammed straight into the vehicle of Bigcas.

The victim along with his two minor companions went for a swim at a nearby beach prior to the fatal accident and were on their way home, police said.

The two minors, one of whom suffered severe bruises in his head, were taken to a hospital in Ubay but was then referred to the Governor Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital in Tagbilaran CIty.

Both are still being treated for their injuries at the said hospital.

Meanwhile, Bigcas did not suffer any injury.

However, his vehicle’s frontend was severely damaged. (A. Doydora)
