A 31-year-old female fish vendor was shot by one of two still unidentified suspects who robbed her and her sister at the side of a national highway in Talibon on Thursday night.

The victim, Florabel Rezabal, 31, of Barangay Tanghaligi in Talibon remained in stable in condition but had to undergo surgery for her gunshot wound.

According to SPO1 Luigi Gabisan of the Talibon Police Station, Rezabal and her sister Florgina Cajes, who had her laptop with her, were held at gunpoint at their roadside fish stall.

The two suspects took the laptop and also tried to take Rezabal’s earnings for the day which were kept inside a container.

Rezabal however refused to hand over the money which eventually ended up scattered on the ground amid the struggle prompting one of the suspects to fire a warning shot.

The gunshot alerted residents in the area including the victims’ cousins who attempted to help but were held back as one of the suspects shot Rezabal.

Based on their initial probe, Gabisan said that the two suspects immediately fled the area on board a motorcycle following the shooting.

According to Gabisan, investigators have pinpointed two residents of the adjacent town of Getafe as persons of interest in the case.

Police however continued their probe on the case to gather evidence against the alleged robbers.

Both victims also could not identify the suspects as the incident happened in a dimly lit area. (AD)
