A cousin of a suspected drug supplier who yielded one of the largest single-operation drug hauls in Jagna in recent years was arrested on Tuesday night.

Ronie Ocena, cousin and one of the alleged drug dealers of nabbed suspected drug supplier Ariel Ocena, was collared through a buy-bust operation in Barangay Canjulao at past 8 p.m., said Major Joseph Berondo, chief of the Jagna Police Station.

Berondo said that Ronie went into hiding for a few days after Ariel’s arrest on November 27 but was eventually made to set a drug transaction with a poseur-buyer.

“Pag-human sa raid sa iyang ig-agaw hing tagod na, wa mgapakita og mga four days,” he added.

Ronie who was immediately apprehended after he allegedly sold shabu to a posuer-buyer was caught in possession of 14 sachets of shabu worth P3,000.

According to Berondo, it was Ariel who led them to his cousin.

“Mabuotan mana sila og madakpan na, manug-an na,” he said.

Ariel was arrested last week at his two-story home in Barangay Pagina through a drug raid that yielded 100 grams of shabu which were estimated to be worth P680,000 based on the value set by the Dangerous Drugs Board.

He was pinpointed as the drug source of Ronie and several others who were already being targeted for arrest by the police.

However, Berondo noted that he was not convinced that Ariel was the only major drug player in Jagna citing the large size of the town.

The Ocenas claimed that they sourced their shabu from Dipolog but refused to name their contact.

“Naa pa g’yud niy lain. Di lang g’yud siya mo tug-an sa source niya, wa kuno siya kaila,” said Berondo.

The police chief also did not discount the possibility that illegal drugs were being shipped to Jagna from Mindanao due to its closeness to the town.

Jagna is one of Bohol’s closest points to Mindanao while its port is also the province’s main gateway to the southern region. (A. Doydora)
