Although local authorities have been conducting drug-busting operations in the area, the police continues to label Barangay Tabajan in Guindulman a center for illegal drug trade as transactions take place both day and night in said village.

According to SPO1 Leonard Repondo of the Guindulman Police Station, the contraband is widespread in the area particularly in Sitio Punta where illegal drugs from various towns even beyond Bohol end up.

Repondo told DYRD Balita that the coastal barangay is accessible for drug shipments as small boats carrying the contraband from Cebu and other neighboring islands can easily dock and unload in the area.

Out of 19 barangays, Tabajan is the third most populous village in Guindulman and is on top of the police’s list of where illegal drug trade is most widespread in the town.

According to Repondo, the number of residents who engage in the illegal drug trade has decreased after a series of police operations in the area.

However, some drug dealers from other places continue to run operations in the area.

Since last year, 25 drug personalities including those in the police’s watch list have been apprehended, Repondo said.

Celso “Adohimala” Olaso, another resident of Sitio Punta, was arrested by authorities on Monday, June 6, 2016.

Olaso was apprehended after he was caught with packets of shabu in a raid.

Charges have been filed by the prosecutor’s office and Olaso is scheduled to be turned over to the Bohol District Jail. (with reports from Allen Doydora)
