His wordsREADINGS:   Daniel 12: 1-3   /   Psalm 16: 5. 8. 9-10. 11   /   Hebrews 10: 11-14   /   MARK 13: 24-32

HIS WORD…AMEN, I SAY TO YOU, THIS GENERATION WILL NOT PASS AWAY UNTIL ALL THESE THINGS HAVE TAKEN PLACE. HEAVEN AND EARTH WILL PASS AWAY, BUT MY WORDS WILL NOT PASS AWAY… BUT OF THAT DAY OR HOUR, NO ONE KNOWS, NEITHER THE ANGELS IN HEAVEN, NOR THE SON, BUT ONLY THE FATHER.

my words… Today is the second to the last Sunday of the Liturgical Year, and normally the theme focuses on the “end of the world” or of “the end times”. It is said that nowadays, people are not anymore afraid of or anxious about the “end of the world”; rather they are afraid of and anxious at the “end of the month”! Why? Because their monthly dues and bills are coming in… and they are usually burdensome… kaya, better “end of the world”nalang!

Brothers and Sisters, when does the world really end? Listening to today’s gospel, it says, “no one knows about it… not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father (Mk 13:32). But it is sad to note that many of our Christian brothers and Sisters are fooled by the claims and doctrines about the “end of the world”. There are those who erroneously sold their properties because of a promise made by some “false prophets” (and even called ‘prophets of doom’) that they are the only ones who can be saved and thereby the need for these innocent people to become members of their group by leaving behind their farms, houses and homes, and working animals. The result: the world did not end at all… and they are at the losing end… they lost their means of livelihood, their meager properties… and some even ended their lives in great frustrations!!!

Brothers and Sisters let us rather be faithful to the WORD of Jesus than to the “words” of men who can be counted as “false prophets”. There are many of those kinds who can easily victimize innocent and naïve people and thereby makingthem their preys. The “end of the world” syndrome will just serve as our warning and guide… but let us just continue living our normal lives. Let us leave everything to the Father who knows everything in us and in our world.Let us therefore find meaning in our “Our Father” Prayer that says, “Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven…” By totally surrendering ourselves to the will of the Father, the more we will experience and find meaning in His great love for all of us.

Yes, it has been said, “Love conquers All”… Let the love therefore of the Father conquer all our fears and anxieties so that the “end of the world” tantrums will just become part of the process of living that love of God in us and among us. Let us totally surrender everything in us and in our world to the Father and everything will become victory for the whole of humanity.

LET THIS BE OUR PRAYER: “FATHER, YOUR WILL BE DONE ON EARTH AS IT IS IN HEAVEN… AMEN.”
